Education has produced a vast population able to read but unable to distinguish what is worth reading. New economy is eliminating standardized jobs, and requiring innovators, critical thinkers and excellent communicators. Here is what the world says:

India facing a talent crunch: Narayana Murthy

Infosys Ltd co-founder N.R. Narayana Murthy said that India is facing a huge talent crunch. Criticizing the Indian education system for its emphasis on rote learning rather than problem solving, he said that about 80-85% of youngsters are not trained for any job.

Why this happens

The primary focus in school/college becomes more and more about mastering content and learning through memorization in a tightly controlled instructional environment. Students learn only what they need to pass the test, to pass the course. All the answers are prearranged, preformatted and ready for absorption. This learning environment seeds low-level thinking skills. Passive thinking brutally affect education, employment prospect and probably the whole life.
